"I
believe Collagen is an art and
my clients are my models."
There
are several types of COLLAGEN (CRT). The oldest and most commonly
used is called Bovine Collagen. This collagen requires a
test. A small amount of collagen is placed in the forearm to
determine if there are allergies to the collagen.
The test site must
be watched carefully for one month. Protein related diseases are
contraindicated with bovine collagen such as rheumatoid arthritis,
lupus, polymyositis and dermatomyositis, therefore a test is
required. Having experienced a hypersensitivity to lidocaine is
also a contraindication to the bovine collagen. The benefits of
Bovine Collagen exist because there are different consistencies:
Zyplast is thicker, placement is deeper and it can be
molded. Also it is used to outline the vermilian boarder around
the lips.
Zyderm I used to fill in tiny lines under the eyes and around the
eyes. It is also used to lverlay the zyplast for a smoother look.
Zyderm II is used to correct lip lines and the deep furor between
the eyes.
CYMETRA (CRT) is the human collagen and does not
require testing. The placement is below the dermis and can
be layered for longer lasting effect. It is important that
two syringes be used three to four weeks apart to achieve the
lasting effects. Having experienced a hypersensitivity to
lidocaine is also a contrandication to Cymetra.
